Château de Pez
This ancient Bordeaux estate of Pez dates back to the year 1450 and is one of the two oldest domaines in Saint-Estèphe. The domaine was sold as a property of the state after the French Revolution and owned by a succession of families before it was purchased by Champagne Louis Roederer in 1995.
The estate covers 74 continuous acres, with 59 acres planted mainly with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, along with small amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec.
Château de Pez winemaker, Philippe Moreau, uses aprogressive, natural approach to vineyard management, limiting the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides. The Domaine of Pez was classified Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in 1932 and Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 2003.
