Recognized as the most prestigious wine estate in Spain, Vega Sicilia needs little introduction with its almost mythical reputation for quality and rarity. The estate is located 100 miles north of Madrid in the shallow Duero (Douro) river valley on the high remote plateau of Casilla y Léon with an altitude over 700 meters.

The location is exactly what makes Vega Sicilia so unique. The cold nights and hot days that occur during the crucial ripening period in September largely contribute the distinct rarity of the wine. In a good vintage, just 20,000 cases are made and the wines are highly allocated.
The grape varieties include Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec that were originally brought to Spain from Bordeaux Grand Cru Classé vineyards.
